(not necessarily in that order)
Actually, I have to up before the sun tomorrow.
So, I’m calling it a night and heading to bed.
This being of light — our dear friend, Anandi — is now one with the light.
She left her body in the early hours of Sunday morning and though we will miss her, we are celebrating her soul flying free.
Many community members visited her home this afternoon, to spend time honoring the physical form that served her so well and also to offer her husband, Bharat, our loving support.
But as so often happens here at Ananda Village, we ended up being blessed as we gathered around, feeling Anandi’s deep peace and listening to Bharat’s stories about Anandi and their life together.
One last beautiful opportunity to enjoy satsang with our beloved friend.
Didn’t really plan on it, but ended up emptying all my boxes of files and putting them away into file cabinets.
There’s plenty of sorting and discarding still to do, but at least now there’s more s-p-a-c-e in the music office!
Lately I’ve had to pay more attention to my physical being; for good and…less than good.
Which I believe is why this quote/photo combination caught my eye on Facebook.
“Have you thought to offer gratitude to the very heart of you, to give thanks to your flesh and bones, your heart and blood, your spirit and your soul for carrying you, for holding you through everything you have met so far.”
Both the words (by Brigit Anna McNeill) and the art (by Taryn Knight) really spoke to me, reminding me that I have so much to be grateful for. 💗
This is the lesson that’s up for me right now.
And…there’s nothing more to add at the moment. 💗
This made me laugh, so I decided to share it tonight.
I haven’t lived with a cat for many years, but I still remember how they are! 😂
And it’s kicking my behind!
It definitely was not a good idea to drop the ball on my weekly fasting routine, because getting back in the flow of it is so hard.
Sure I had good reasons for taking a week off (or two…or three), but in retrospect I can see those reasons really weren’t good enough.
So, here I am, after four (or is it five?) weeks of no fasting, celebrating that the day is almost over and I didn’t break down and eat. 😄
Yep, it’s that time of year again. On Wednesday and Thursday each department of the Sangha Outreach Ministries will present our reports on the year just past and our plans for 2022.
We in the music ministry are doing our best to stick to our newfound mottos of “Less is more” and “Done is better than perfect.”
There are SO many things we want to do with Ananda Music and it’s SO easy to just let our imaginations roam free and to dream big!
But having a to-do list of 100 humongous items isn’t much help when it comes to actually accomplishing specific goals.
We may be slow, but we’re learning! 😊
This has been a day filled from top to bottom with inspiration and friendship and love and family and insights and giving and receiving and laughter and sharing and relaxing and beauty and even a little bit of work.
It’s lovely to end the day with a heart full of gratitude.
We’ve been having good luck with our movie choices lately.
A few weeks ago we watched The Kid Who Would Be King and thoroughly enjoyed it. A fun mix of humor, adventure, and lessons about living up to one’s potential.
I was also interested in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, though it looked a little intense for me. But it was so great! Humorous, amazing martial arts sequences, and portions of it were set in San Francisco (which makes everything more fun).
And last night we watched Disney’s latest, Encanto, and I truly was enchanted by this movie. The colors, the music, the characters, the sense of kaleidoscopic movement…all supporting a story that has you reflecting on life’s meaning and purpose. Absolutely beautiful.
If you’re a bit of a movie wimp like me — who wants to enjoy movies and end up feeling better after you’ve watched one — then check these out.
