It’s AUM (Om) Guru Chant Vigil time!

The idea for a chant vigil first came up in 2021. Still in the midst of the pandemic, we at Ananda were seeking ways to maintain and strengthen our sense of unity.

There were also wildfires nearby and traumatic things happening throughout the world, prompting a renewed commitment to focus on prayer while staying centered in awareness of God as our true reality.

Now here we are in 2024 and it’s our 4th annual 24-hour AUM (Om) Guru Chant Vigil!

It thrills me to know we’re spreading uplifted vibrations of light, love, and joy throughout the world (Lord knows this world needs it!). 🙏

Making the wrong choice

Today I proved to myself — yet again! — just how important it is to stay focused on the positive: affirming my goals; noticing what’s working; thinking good thoughts; and doing things that raise my energy.

How did I prove it? By doing the exact opposite and watching myself get bogged down in negativity: stewing over my problems; noticing what wasn’t working; thinking worry thoughts; and doing things that lowered my energy.

I let the actions and/or omissions of a couple of people get under my skin; complained about it to several friends; and proceeded to fret over it throughout the day.

The end result was that I felt agitated and restless; got hardly anything accomplished; and ended the day in a mood!

I know this already, yet I still forget sometimes just how crucial it is to keep my thoughts and energies high and uplifted.

Christmas is coming

Lots of crazy rushing around today (deadlines, deadlines!), including preparing for tonight’s Christmas Zoom Sing-Along.

We’ve all been craving singing together, so tonight we did the next best thing, by coming together virtually to sing a bunch of choir favorites — traditional carols, the Hallelujah Chorus, some Oratorio choir pieces, and — of course — all of Swamiji’s original Christmas songs.

Predictably, even as tired and frazzled as I was, the music lifted me up and softened my edges and helped me (finally!) start to feel like Christmas really is coming!
