Yep, Spiritual Renewal Week (SRW) is almost here. Which means I’ve been knuckling down and wrestling with details galore.
But first I had to break though some serious resistance. Thank goodness it’s behind me and things are (finally) progressing.

Yep, Spiritual Renewal Week (SRW) is almost here. Which means I’ve been knuckling down and wrestling with details galore.
But first I had to break though some serious resistance. Thank goodness it’s behind me and things are (finally) progressing.
At a certain point I find myself wondering, “Just how much inspiration can a person take in, anyway?!?”
Because come Friday afternoon of SRW I often feel like I can’t absorb even one more insight, one more bit of wise guidance, one more heartwarming story.
But the truth is that — somehow! — there’s always room for more, especially when it’s so filled with joy. π€ΈββοΈ
It definitely feels like we cast off our lines yesterday (with Sunday service and a thrilling concert rehearsal) and today finds us well underway on our SRW 2023 voyage.
Judging by this morning’s class with Jyotish and Devi; a wonderful lunch with friends from India; and an inspiring kirtan, it’s clear that we’re in for quite a journey!
I can tell that we are well and truly back.
How?
I’m once again feeling like a full-time juggler: SRW (kirtan, concert, classes, donor tea, banquet); Sevaka retreat; Oratorio recording; Sunday music; dental work; India plans; and more.
Sometimes I feel like this guy looks. π
The music this morning absolutely made my week…and we’re only on Day 1!
But the group was so present and so tight, I was one big goose bump by the end of “Go On Alone,” which is an amazingly powerful song to begin with.
Of course, there were wonderful talks by Jyotish and Devi to experience as well.
So, we’re off and running. Tonight was the kirtan and tomorrow’s another early day with lots to accomplish before the morning class.
SRW (Spiritual Renewal Week) 2019 was our amazing, miraculous, almost-unbelievable 50th anniversary celebration.
SRW 2020 was chaotic and disorienting; completely online; scrambling to figure it all out.
And now it’s time for SRW 2021. We’ve survived! We’re not entirely back to normal, but making progress. It’s easy to still feel a little disoriented due to the continuing changes and adjustments as things slowly open back up.
The good news is live singing is happening, and it feels great to be tackling the challenge of scheduling singing, chanting, and instrumentals for daily classes, evening kirtan, evening concert, and Sunday service.
Yes, it’s a bit exhausting but also exhilarating, because we’re almost all the way back to our good old, normal, crazy-busy SRW!
