Saying farewell to a special soul we never met

Lugano street musician, Jörg Wolters

It’s amazing how you can feel connected to someone you never actually met or talked to. This gentleman — Jörg Wolters — is a beautiful example. I couldn’t begin to guess how many times we saw him playing his organ on the streets of Lugano; I found it to be absolutely delightful every single time.

Originally from Germany, with his top hat and long red beard, he was a well-known face throughout Ticino (Switzerland), performing for over 30 years as a street artist.

The City of Lugano paid homage to Jörg on its social media profiles:
“With deep sadness, we say goodbye to Jörg Wolters, better known as ”Barbarossa” (“Red Beard”), the organ player who with his music brought joy to our streets for over thirty years. A face known and loved by all, Jörg embodied the spirit of freedom and joy of life that he shared every day with his smiles and his music. His presence will remain indelible in the memory of Lugano and in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of meeting him.”

When we were in Lugano last May, I was inspired to capture a few moments on video. I will miss his smile and cheerful music the next time we visit.

Remembering my mom

Yesterday — June 17 — was the twenty-ninth anniversary of the day my mother — Bernice Louise Stroud — left her body.

Hard to comprehend that twenty-nine years have passed since then!

We didn’t have the easiest of relationships; I wish we’d had the last almost thirty years to grow in appreciation and learn to understand one another better.

My sister shared these photos yesterday in honor of my mother’s passing. I must have seen the first two before, although maybe not since her funeral. Looking at them, I’m struck anew by her sweetness and her smile.

The last one — with my father — has always been one of my favorite photos of all time. What a beautiful couple they are.

Remembering you with much love, Mom.

Celebrating Jeannie

Jeannie’s birthday was last weekend, but we decided to surprise her with a little celebration during our music meeting today.

It’s such a privilege to work and to serve with this great soul, who has been a true divine friend for a couple of decades by now.

She also happens to have a dynamite smile! 😄

I give up

Been trying for an hour or more to think of something interesting to say, but it’s just not happening. It’s time to call it a night, but I want to at least leave you with something to make you smile. 😊

Go with love, dear Sheila

Our dear friend, Sheila, is now soaring in light, but those of us left behind are sure going to miss that million dollar smile and her boundless, joyous, enthusiastic ENERGY!

Ramesha and I did numerous programs for the Concord meditation group, which met in Sheila’s home for many years. We would stay one or two nights, spending most of our time laughing and eating.

It took longer to get to know Sheila’s husband, Bob, who was as quiet as Sheila was exuberant. But they were as sweet and devoted a couple as I’ve ever seen.

Life got busy and we had to pass on trips to Concord the past number of years. But Sheila’s smile and joyous devotion will always be a part of me.
