Update to the update

Day 1 of stem cell collection accomplished!

Ramesha took this photo at the beginning of the process. I was on the machine for five hours. They harvested about a third of the necessary stem cells, so we’ll be returning tomorrow to do it all again.

As has been the case throughout this entire journey, the nurses and attendants are all exceptionally competent and caring. Such a blessing!

Since I’m just sitting in the chair the whole time, it was an opportunity to catch up on a number of emails and text messages…until the nurse suggested that I lay back and nap (reminding me yet again about resting).

My instructions were to go home, take it easy, and eat a good dinner. So, I just ordered Mexican food to be delivered to the house (one of the perks of being in the city!).

Gardening time

What an intense and inspirational Spiritual Renewal Week it’s been! I’ve loved just about every moment, but today I finally hit the wall a bit.

So, I made the decision not to push myself to go to tonight’s event; I stayed home and rested instead.

And I also potted plants that had been waiting patiently for a little TLC.

Resting

My plan was to share some thoughts and discoveries about resting.

But it’s been such a full day that I’ll let that wait for another day and simply go and…

Rest.

Resting

I had hoped to catch up on a number of things today, but I guess my psyche really was on vacation because I wasn’t able to accomplish much of anything!

My challenge is to be okay with being non-productive.

This is what makes a “staycation” a little tricky; when we’re in our usual environment it’s hard not to fall into our usual behaviors and expectations. However, opportunities to really rest are also needed.
