A take-it-easy Saturday

I consciously left today completely unscheduled.

Last weekend was chock-full of activity; it was followed by an extra busy week; tomorrow is Sunday service; then this coming week we head down to Los Angeles for a weekend of programs.

So, when I realized I had no commitments on today’s calendar I promised myself I would leave it empty…and I did! In fact, I’m enjoying not having much of anything to share about the day.

I watered the garden. I sat on the patio. I read my book. I did some gentle exercise. I sat on the patio. I chatted with Ramesha. I read my book some more. I ate some good meals. I did dishes. I sat on the patio. We watched a show in the evening. And I’m on track to be in bed by 11:00pm.

A nice relaxing day, indeed.

On the mend

I was more “myself” today, though still nowhere near my usual energy levels.

I mean, accomplishing a “lot” right now looks like: juicing some lemons; (finally) sorting our vacation mail; and washing dishes.

What I’m particularly proud of is the way I sat on the patio for what felt like hours this afternoon… staring at the treetops, gazing at the occasional butterfly, hearing the birdsong, listening to the lizards rustling through the dried wisteria blossoms…

Aaaaahhhhhhh… I’m falling asleep just thinking about it.

My patio happy place

I’ve been slowly gathering my plants (indoor and outdoor) from the homes of various friends who kept them alive for the two months we were living in Sacramento.

I spent this afternoon outside on my patio repotting four indoor plants; potting two outdoor plants; and rearranging my patio plants in general.

It was deeply satisfying. My patio is definitely another one of my happy places.

The view from my chair

Today was a day dedicated to some serious R&R. I’m getting quite good at it, I must say.

For example, I had not just one, but two sessions sitting outside on the patio, enjoying the sunshine and cool breeze.

These are all photos of the view from my zero gravity chair (I found the wisteria leaves to be rather mesmerizing).

My new zero gravity chair

I was kind of tired this morning because I didn’t have a full “slug day” this past weekend (there was special event Saturday and we sang for service on Sunday).

Plus today was the start of my radiation therapy.

So I was very ready to break out my new zero gravity chair and chill out on the patio in the late afternoon. It was a little cloudy from the earlier rain, but still worth it!

Enjoying nature

Our patio garden is slowly coming together. I actually sat outside for a while this morning, enjoying the view and listening to the birdsong.

It provides a nice balance for how much driving around we’ll be doing this week.
