Sunday service in the morning and a celebration of Swamiji’s spiritual anniversary in the evening, followed by 24 hours of global focus on the chant “Aum Guru”!
A triple whammy of spiritual power which has impacted every level of my being.
I’m filled to overflowing with love, joy, and immense gratitude.
As a child I loved Easter even more than Christmas. There wasn’t all the fuss about gifts; I liked jelly beans more than chocolate; and we got new Easter clothes to wear to church.
Now I understand that what I really love is the resurgence of hope, of infinite possibilities, of love triumphant which the combination of Easter and springtime awakens in my heart year after year, without fail.
We started the day off feeling deeply inspired by Anandi’s Sunday service talk on Divine Love. Then we celebrated with French toast for lunch, followed by opening our Valentine’s cards and simply chatting for a while.
It was the sort of cold and gloomy day that’s perfect for getting cozy with a movie, so in the afternoon we watched the 1997 Cinderella featuring Whitney Houston and a whole slew of other great movie actors. I had barely heard of it before a few days ago, but it was thoroughly enjoyable.
However, it got me thinking about another version of the same musical, so…! With the patient indulgence of my wonderful husband (and after a delicious tortellini and broccoli dinner) we watched Cinderella again — this time the 1957 live television version with a very young Julie Andrews.
It was an altogether enjoyable, relaxing, and love-filled day. π
Below are two quotes — one by and the other about Martin Luther King Jr. — that I had never heard before. I found both really powerful and hope you do, too.
“Love is the greatest force in the universe. It is the heartbeat of the moral cosmos. He who loves is a participant in the being of God.”
Martin Luther King Jr.
“The moment I met Martin Luther King, Jr., I knew I was in the presence of a holy person. Not just his good work, but his very being was a source of great inspiration for meβ¦In Vietnam, we refer to Dr. King as a ‘Bodhisattva’, an enlightened being devoted to serving humanity.”
One can rejoice without gloating. And one can grieve without despairing. Don’t gloat and don’t despair; those behaviors will simply impede the healing this country so desperately needs.
It’s time for extra doses of kindness, empathy, compassion. And, of course, LOVE.
I am beyond thrilled to finally be able to share the finished video of “O Master”!
More than ninety singers participated in the Ananda World Brotherhood Virtual Choir… from Mumbai, New Delhi, Noida, and Pune (India); Tel Aviv (Israel); Milano (Italy); and California, Missouri, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington (USA).
The love and joy is palpable; devotees singing with hearts full of gratitude and devotion.
You know the sign of a really great father? Look at how many times he’s been “adopted”!
I mean, my mother gave birth to two daughters — me and Cathy — but I long ago lost count of how many friends “adopted” our Dad to be their Dad as well!
Unconditional love. Unwavering support. My #1 fan. Generous to a fault (sometimes literally).
That’s my Dad.
I have so much love and gratitude for this man and I felt to share a few photos of him through the years. π
