What a trooper!

This whole cancer journey has had Ramesha showing up for me in ever-new ways.

For example, we never could have imagined that he would need to give me injections (like before the stem cell collection). And today he got to cut my hair!

It was starting to bug me because in normal times I would be due for a cut, but in point of fact, my hair is starting to come out due to the chemo, so it seemed like a good idea to go ahead and hack most of it off.

So, my wonderful husband graciously stepped up to the plate and helped me get it done. 😘

A surreal moment at the hairdresser

I got a haircut today and, as usual, we took a minute to schedule my next appointment.

We counted six weeks out, which was perfect timing — right before my departure to Sacramento for the bone marrow transplant.

Except then it hit me — after they collect my stem cells I’ll be receiving a high dose of chemotherapy, which will result in losing my hair. Soooo…that would sort of negate the need for a haircut the week before, wouldn’t it?

Definitely a surreal moment.

A red letter day!

Tomorrow I have an appointment for….a haircut!

There’s nothing like having access to simple, basic stuff just go away — literally overnight! — and then stay gone for over two months to make you appreciate things you used to take for granted.

I’m now feeling properly appreciative and soooooo ready. 😄
