Hibernation sure sounds good to me (I have a feeling a lot of my friends can relate to this)!
So much to be grateful for
Sure, there’s still no power, which is inconvenient.
True, we ran into issues changing phone providers, which was annoying.
Yes, it been raining a lot, which can feel a little oppressive.
But on the other hand…
Our heat is propane, so we’re nice and warm. We’ve got a small generator, so fridge and wifi work. We live in spiritual community, surrounded by friends. We love our work, which we get to do together.
And even more basic…
We have a roof over our heads, our roads aren’t flooded, we have plenty to eat, and no fear for our personal safety.
I mean, really…! I am extremely blessed, and I know it.
A perfect evening
Good friends. Beautiful home. Delicious dinner. And an anniversary to celebrate.
It was all completely delightful. Who could ask for more?
Perfect end to a perfect evening
This evening we had dinner with friends in their beautiful new home. There was laughter and sharing; there was delicious food and a incredible array of desserts.
To cap it all off, one of our hosts suggested watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” — and it was just exactly what I was needing in the midst of this busy week — to relax and chuckle and resonate with the heart-opening message of this enduring holiday classic.
An evening with friends
Tonight we made time for dinner with some dear friends.
We were three couples, who ate, shared, told stories, and ate some more.
But most of all, we laughed. There was so much joy in simply being together.
I feel extremely fortunate in my friends.
A feel good movie night
With Ramesha out of town, I had movie night with some friends. One of them is a dancer/choreographer who hadn’t seen La La Land yet.
There are many wonderful things about the movie but it’s late so I’ll only focus on one: the opening scene on the freeway!
I love, love, LOVE that scene, as well as the song itself — “Another Day of Sun”. It leaves me happier every time I watch it.
But I love even more this video of the choreographer explaining how they did it! Absolutely amazing behind-the-scenes stuff.
The SRW voyage has begun
It definitely feels like we cast off our lines yesterday (with Sunday service and a thrilling concert rehearsal) and today finds us well underway on our SRW 2023 voyage.
Judging by this morning’s class with Jyotish and Devi; a wonderful lunch with friends from India; and an inspiring kirtan, it’s clear that we’re in for quite a journey!
Catching up in Assisi
Today — from start to finish — was about catching up with friends from Ananda Assisi we hadn’t seen in years.
I feel like we did about a month’s worth of connecting in one long day.
We enjoyed Sunday service, laughed a lot, exchanged many hugs, shared news, and also sang. An altogether lovely day.
Brunch American-style
Though it originated in Valtellina (northern Italy), yesterday’s pizzoccheri is a dish typical to Ticino (the part of Switzerland where Lugano is located).
Today was something completely different: Ramesha and I fixed a full-on American brunch — French toast, scrambled eggs, and potatoes — for our dear friends, the Lo Menzo’s.
There was even peanut butter, although we made sure to explain that’s not typically offered when you order French toast in an American restaurant!
I’m happy to report that they thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal. And we thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with them; so much so that it was almost 6:00pm before we managed to tear ourselves away!
Onward and upward
I really appreciated the many words of support in response to my post about making the wrong choice.
It’s so helpful to be reminded that I’m not alone in my little delusive tendencies, and so encouraging to know my friends are rooting for me to turn things around and head in the right direction again.
It was also validating to realize that today’s Sunday service message could have been dedicated especially to me, it was sooooo spot on — from start to finish!
