Grateful for Gilbert and Louise

This Father’s Day I’m thinking about both my Dad and my Mom.

Yesterday — the day before Father’s Day — was the 30th anniversary of my mother’s passing. It boggles my mind how so much time can have gone by already.

Thinking of you with love, Mom. And feeling more grateful than words can express that my Dad is still with us.

Celebrating my father AND my sister

Because my sister, Cathy, and I were born right near the summer solstice (five years and one day apart), it often happens that one or the other of our birthdays coincides with Father’s Day.

Last year my birthday did so, but this year Cathy has the honor.

So, Happy Father’s Day to the best Dad ever, my #1 Fan and constant support!

And Happy Birthday to my beautiful baby sister, whose smile spreads light wherever she goes.

I’m grateful to have both of you in my life. 💗

A very festive weekend

Today’s my sister’s birthday and tomorrow’s my birthday. Plus it’s one of those years when Father’s Day and my birthday coincide.

Then there’s the Solstice, and the fact that some dear friends are returning from a trip back East.

Perhaps best of all is that we can drive to Sacramento and celebrate with Dad and Cathy in person. Then we’ll stay at a beautiful B&B before picking Sundara and Nandadevi up from the airport on Sunday.

So, in honor of all this wonderfulness, I’m writing my blog now and — believe it or not! — leaving my computer home. No work for me this weekend!

Father’s Day thoughts

You know the sign of a really great father? Look at how many times he’s been “adopted”!

I mean, my mother gave birth to two daughters — me and Cathy — but I long ago lost count of how many friends “adopted” our Dad to be their Dad as well!

Unconditional love. Unwavering support. My #1 fan. Generous to a fault (sometimes literally).

That’s my Dad.

I have so much love and gratitude for this man and I felt to share a few photos of him through the years. 💗
