I still find this to be the perfect image to accompany my sense of joy and relief at getting my 2nd dose of the COVID vaccine.
It’s certainly been an interesting process, having to repeatedly remind pharmacy employees that I’m getting the primary series, not a booster. Which sometimes means waiting longer; like today, when they thawed out the booster instead of the 2nd primary dose.
Today was full in a way we haven’t done in quite some time.
We started off first thing this morning with a Sangha meeting (our Ananda outreach ministries version of a monthly staff meeting, which we attended while in Sacramento via Zoom), followed by a few minutes to answer emails before packing up and checking out of the hotel.
Then it was off to my bone marrow transplant follow-up appointment, after which I stopped to get blood drawn for labs.
Then we drove home, where I spent a fair amount of time researching and then scheduling my COVID vaccine “re-do” (it’s not so easy to find primary doses any more, as opposed to boosters).
And, finally, our quartet ran through the entire program for our upcoming Christmas concert.
Everything about the day was lovely, productive, and fun. But I definitely don’t have the energy to write anything particularly meaningful tonight!
Getting our second COVID shot was — at one and the same time — both a tremendous relief and hugely anticlimactic.
Interesting and strange that something so small and seemingly insignificant is more or less our “get out of jail” card. I mean, two more weeks and we can go visit my Dad!
Yep, this is us beaming after our first shot of the COVID vaccine. Feeling both happy and relieved.
It was quite the scene today at Sierra Family Medical Center, with lots of Village residents and Ridge neighbors patiently waiting their turn to get jabbed.
There was definitely a high, upbeat energy all around. We are soooooo ready to be able to sing, to attend Sunday service in person at the Temple of Light, to visit family, and to simply put all this behind us.
We’re grateful to have taken our first step down that road and look forward to step #2 in just a few weeks.
