Another perfect day.
We leave tomorrow, which would feel pretty sad except that we’re finally heading home to the Village — which makes us happy.
(not necessarily in that order)
Another perfect day.
We leave tomorrow, which would feel pretty sad except that we’re finally heading home to the Village — which makes us happy.
Not really, but it sort of feels that way!
Our stay here has felt somewhat never-ending; as though we’ve been here forever.
But as usual, everything speeds up as the end draws near. To the point where I find myself amazed that all of a sudden our departure for the coast is the day after tomorrow!
Gathering up all our stuff and restoring order to the house takes some doing; even though we started the process last week, there’s still plenty to do.
But then — Pacific Grove, here we come!
Once I get the final clearance from my doctors, we’re exploring the possibility of getting away to the coast for a few days.
Of course, we’ve already been “away” for over a month, but it certainly hasn’t been a vacation!
We’re both feeling the need for quiet time to process, to integrate, and to simply rest. Let’s see what’s trying to happen!
The coast will forever be my happy place.
We enjoyed a short but beautiful drive from Guerneville, then walked coastal paths near Fort Ross; had a delicious salad for lunch in Jenner (at a delightful cafe with views of the Russian River emptying into the ocean); and visited an adorable shopping area in Duncans Mills.
It was sunny and windy — the kind of invigorating coastal weather that I love the most!
Yep, we’re in Guerneville for a few days of rest and relaxation.
Looking forward to time spent by the Russian River; walking through the redwoods; and visiting the coast.
We packed up and left Santa Barbara fairly early, so I didn’t have time to take pictures. But I deeply appreciated Santa Barbara’s parting gift of FOG!
I especially enjoying heading inland and looking back over the completely socked-in coast, while ahead of us were patches of blue as the sun came breaking through. That was my daily reality for decades in San Francisco and it was like a piece of my heart went, “Ahh…that’s what I’ve been missing!”
So, now we’re home; very happy we went and even happier to be back.
