From a funny, songwriting friend

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned Greg Tamblyn (comedic singer and songwriter) before. He’s one of those people who was part of my life only for a brief spell (more years ago than I care to remember!), but whose music impacted me deeply during that time. It’s surely been over thirty years since the last time we connected but I’ll always think of him as a friend.

Anyway, I still get his newsletter and there’s almost always something in it that either makes me chuckle or causes me to pause and reflect. Sometimes both.

The primary topic of this newsletter was Gratitude; Vegetables; Awe and Wonder. There was a lot in it to ponder and reflect on, but I felt to share a few random tidbits.

“There’s always a lot to be thankful for if you take time to look for it.
For example, I’m sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don’t hurt.”

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.
It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this
emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and
stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.”
     – Albert Einstein

“If you wish to make an apple pie truly from scratch,
you must first invent the universe.”
       – Carl Sagan

A little crabby

I’ve been feeling a little crabby and wondering if it’s because Mercury is going retrograde in a few days (yes, thanks to my Gemini sun being ruled by Mercury, I really do feel the retrograde energy).

On the other hand, it could be that I need more downtime but can never seem to figure out when or how to fit it in. Which makes me seriously cranky.

Ah well, I’m hoping an early night and a good rest will help me rise above my cranky crabbiness by tomorrow.

Who remembers the Monkees?

Peter Tork reading Autobiography of a Yogi

Seeing this photo I vaguely remembered the TV show and some of their hit songs from my childhood, but what a surprise to see Peter Tork reading the Autobiography (and yes, I had to do a little research to figure out which one he was).

It made more sense once I read this quote which was in Wikipedia:
Dolenz reflected on Tork’s departure, saying, “Three of us more or less play ourselves in the series. The odd one out is Peter Tork. Offstage he’s a real serious guy who thinks a lot about things like religion and problems in the world.

Interesting, eh?

A fun and joy-filled night

Yesterday’s concert was quite the success. We had a good turnout; our performance was received with great enthusiasm; and we almost sold out of the CDs we brought.

But more importantly, many people shared how they felt uplifted by the vibration and consciousness of the music and our singing, and how important it is that we offer this uplifted consciousness in today’s world.

For us, THIS is the only success that really matters. Well, that and the tremendous joy of sharing our wonderful music with an audience of receptive souls.

What a fun and joy-filled night!

Blessed by Swamiji

Ramesha did a really great job designing the mugs for “The Christmas Mystery Collection.” I especially like this one with the cover artwork on one side and a combined photo of Swamiji with the group on the other.

In fact, as I happened to see it this morning while rushing around preparing for today’s concert, it struck me that Swamiji was actually blessing us.

And I do believe that’s exactly what happened today. It was a joyful, grace-filled process from start to finish, with a completely successful evening being the end result.

What joy (details tomorrow)!

From our new Christmas album

Video by Bhaktan Klippstein

After months of recording and editing and planning and rehearsing and promoting and so on and so forth…all the pieces are finally falling into place!

We have a CD and tomorrow we do our launch concert in Sacramento.

But for now, you can view the lyric video of the first single from the album. Hope you enjoy it!

Moon as bright as a star

What an amazing moon we have tonight!

It was already so bright last night that I had to dig out my eye mask in order to sleep, so I can only imagine what tonight will be like.

A meditation on letting go

Beautiful…

(And no, the original poster wasn’t implying that dead leaves grow into trees. It’s poetic; think of it as dead leaves nurturing the new growth.)

Two too many spiders

Having lived in a rural community for most of the past twenty years, I’ve become largely desensitized to spiders.

After all, considering that we also get frogs and lizards inside the house during different seasons of the year, spiders start to seem like no big deal (unless they’re too close to my bed; that’s a whole other story!).

But finding two spiders on the bathroom counter this morning was really a bit much. Lucky for them, I was in a huge rush, so I had to just leave them there and hope they would relocate on their own. 😅
