Spring arrives with a bang!

We had a rather dramatic first day of Spring here at Ananda Village, with an afternoon thunder and lightning storm that hit unbelievably close!

It arrived with a sudden BOOM that made us jump, then immediately shut down all our electronics. The one big clap of thunder was followed by a brief but intense hailstorm.

We learned later that some of our close neighbors ended up with fried light bulbs, as well as losing phone and/or internet service.

I arrived at the office a little later to be greeted by these cheery daffodils surrounded by hail. The perfect juxtiposition.

And the photo below (by Satyaki) shows the three pine trees that took the brunt of the lightning strike. Mamma mia.

Almost here

It’s getting late and I have an early doctor’s appointment in town tomorrow. So, I’m anticipating the vernal equinox with this photo of a blossoming plum tree.

Yes, spring really is almost here!

Thoughtful kitty

Words aren’t coming tonight, but this photo beautifully captures the essence of how I’m feeling.

Reflective and a little ambiguous.

Crunch time

Oratorio performance and recording.

American launch of the new Ananda Music App.

10th anniversary of Swami Kriyananda moksha (liberation) day.

Preparing for our first trip to Europe since before the pandemic.

And on top of everything else, it’s now been six months since my bone marrow transplant, which means I’m due to restore the immunizations that were wiped out along with the rest of my immune system (hopefully before the trip to Europe!).

Perhaps it’s being in major “crunch time” that has me craving the extremely satisfying “crunchiness” of popcorn! I haven’t given in yet, but maybe tomorrow…

Friday inspiration: the goal of life

I don’t know who combined this Jyotish painting with the image of the spiritual eye, but I love it and thought it would be a beautiful vision on which to end the week.

Have a blessed weekend, everyone!

Thinking of my friend

My dear friend, Nandadevi, is in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Her heart has been acting a little funny, so she’s getting it checked out.

I saved this photo and quote quite some time ago — like, at least a couple of years!

Now feels like the perfect moment to share it, while holding the vision of her standing calmly in the light and love of Divine Mother.

Official x 2

Today was my six month follow-up appointment with the bone marrow transplant doctor from UC Davis, and he was even more enthusiastic about how well I’m doing than my oncologist was!

I don’t have to see him again for a year. Whoo hoo!

My prayer this evening

Sometimes when there’s so much to do (as is happening in these days!) I can feel the overwhelm slowly but surely starting to paralyze me.

So, I’m grateful to be reminded that I can ask for help, for guidance, which makes all the difference in the world.

What a difference a week makes

Last Sunday I was on Day 6 of my weeklong retreat at Blue Sage Sanctuary, and Ramesha was sending me photos of our slightly snowbound apartment (the above photo was taken from our kitchen window).

Today everywhere we look is green and brown again, thanks to the rain which has been coming down steadily for days now. And I felt very blessed to be back in the Temple of Light for Sunday service, after missing last week.

But the thoughts, insights, and lessons of the retreat are very much with me still.
