Letting go

Something has evidently shifted. I spent the entire afternoon sorting through an impressive accumulation of stuff that was stored in our bathroom.

We’ve moved so much (seven or eight times in the past ten years!) that stuff was repeatedly tucked away without having the time (or the bandwidth) to make conscious decisions about what to get rid of and what to keep.

So today, a lot was discarded, quite a bit was set aside be given away, and I reorganized the space to keep those things we actually need.

It felt both freeing and exhausting. Especially in this heat!

I’ve got my eye on a different area of the apartment for tomorrow. Hope to keep the momentum going.

Too hot to think

Engaging my brain has been a challenge this entire day. It truly has been too hot to think, although it didn’t help that I was already tired because yesterday was so full and intense.

Instead it was a day for accomplishing small things that didn’t take much energy.

Weighty thoughts? No way!

A successful & productive retreat!

Ramesha, Bhagavati, Pavani, Jeannie at the end of our music retreat.

Ramesha summarized our retreat so well, I’m going to copy his words here!

“Today we had a very productive music retreat at Crystal Hermitage.

It helped us clarify our next steps for the music ministry, both here at Ananda Village and worldwide.

We met in Swamiji’s apartment and we could feel his guidance throughout the meeting.

Thank you, Swamiji! 🙏

In fact, the retreat was so successful and productive that Pavani, Jeannie, and I ended up doing a major feng shui rearrangement of the music office! We completely freed up the wealth corner and spiffed up the wisdom corner as well.

It was quite a day!

Jeannie working in the spiffed up wisdom corner.
Pavani relaxing in the newly sattvic wealth corner.

Retreat time

Tomorrow is our second Music Ministry retreat of the year.

Which just goes to show how much shifting, changing, developing, and growing is going on, while we do our best to catch up, seek guidance, and tune into Master’s and Swami’s will for Ananda Music. 🙏

A global “Channels”

I hadn’t seen our virtual choir recording of “Channels” since it launched during last week’s Spiritual Renewal Week concert; I loved it even more as I listened to it for the second (and third and fourth) time.

This time around we had singers from Oregon, Washington, California, Texas, Mexico, Italy, India, and New Zealand! I love our virtual choir. 💖

Not quite there yet

Monday was a complete stay-at-home day. Slept in, took things slow, and thought I was pretty much recovered from last week.

Not quite…

I did manage to get up fairly early, went to the Temple to meditate, and then walked. But when late morning arrived I sat down to fold the last little bit of laundry and couldn’t keep my eyes open. It was a surprise nap time!

I feel a little bad about all the emails and projects I still need to catch up on, but I’m trying to simply be where I’m at. And I know this tiredness will pass!

Seventeen years ago!

This is from our wedding blessing at the Ananda Palo Alto community, a completely fun, joy-filled, blissful event. We tied the knot a few days later — on July 5, 2004 — an incredible seventeen years and what feels like several lifetimes ago!

Ramesha and I have shared an amazing life for almost two decades now, and I’m so totally grateful.

Done, done, and DONE!

Done as in finished.

Done as in “a little crispy” (cooked).

Done as in, “Hallelujah, this wonderful but l-o-n-g week is over!”

The light at the end of the tunnel

This isn’t really the perfect metaphor, because Spiritual Renewal Week has been showering us in light all week long. The speakers, the friendships, the music, the special events, Kriya…all filled with light and love and joy!

So, it’s not about coming out of darkness into light, but simply that it’s been a really long, full, intense week and we’re finally within sight of the end.
