Progress is being made

It took some doing, but I finally located the stash of photos that will accompany my Swami stories. YAY!

I’m also making progress in terms of developing my voice: Ramesha and I have found a mutually agreeable time for him to work with me on a regular basis. Double YAY!!

And…our music team is getting back in the flow of meeting and planning. Triple YAY!!!

Getting ready — again!

I just discovered a blog post from December 2021 in which I outlined my strategy for gathering stories about Swamiji and finally getting them written down. I made a chronological list and was excited to start looking for photos.

But then life took over, as usual.

No matter! I’m ready to try again, keeping in mind Swamiji’s quote: “I haven’t succeeded YET.”

Reading my own blog posts

I was thinking to start sharing memories of times and experiences with Swamiji today, but decided I’d better review some old blog posts first — in case I had already written about those memories and experiences.

In fact, I haven’t done so. But it was so fascinating to revisit my thoughts and emotions and observations from back in 2019 (when I first started writing this blog) that I could hardly make myself stop!

So I guess I’ll get started tomorrow.

Memories of Swamiji

With Swamiji in Assisi (possibly during the oratorio tour in 2000)

I’ve been catching up on my reading of several books about Swami Kriyananda (the founder of Ananda, who I also consider one of my dearest friends).

In the course of reading, many memories are surfacing. Some of them are quite precious and I’m hoping to dedicate more time to getting them down in writing in 2023.

Making a comeback

In order to share what’s making a comeback, I first have to confess that I had been struggling with my sadhana (meditation practices) for some time.

The good news is that things have shifted and I’m thrilled to be back in a regular meditation flow once again.

It’s just as Paramhansa Yogananda said: “The more you meditate, the more you’ll want to meditate. But the less you meditate, the less you’ll want to meditate.”

Weekly gratitude plan for 2023

This year I’m determined to do this.

I’ve got the jars. I’ve got the paper. And once a week is totally doable (as opposed to aiming for every day).

I’m looking forward to reading the notes next New Year’s Eve!

Happy Birthday, Yogananda!

I found my guru in 1998 and my life was transformed.

So on this — his 130th birthday — I once again give him my loving devotion and deep gratitude.

Sucked in by Facebook

Sometimes Facebook will notify me about a “friend’s” birthday, and I realize I can’t even remember the person or how I know them.

So then I’ll go to their profile in order to decide whether it’s time to “unfriend” them.

Unfortunately, today was one of those times when I couldn’t really remember the person, but I did recognize someone on their friends list who I hadn’t seen in years and was curious about what they were up to.

Then, of course, I ran across someone on that person’s friends list…and so on and so forth, until I was completely sucked into the black hole that is Facebook. 🤦‍♀️

Which is why this is all I have time to write about in today’s blog post!

Back in the saddle

I’m officially back to work, after months on disability.

For me, performing on Sunday service is part of my healing process, but the week-to-week, managerial duties have been in abeyance since before the transplant.

But today I had two meetings, then went through and organized a pile of notes. Not bad for my first day.

It definitely feels good to be back.

Weather from dawn to dusk

It was a beautiful sunrise this morning (the photo really doesn’t do justice to the colors of the sky).

We ran errands in town in the afternoon, driving back in the rain and reaching home just as it transitioned into snow.

Dusk came early, with the snow sticking pretty good after only about thirty minutes.

It’s beautiful weather, really.
